Membership & Donations

Join SMARTER

Anyone who cares about the safety of motorcyclists is eligible to join SMARTER. That’s it, that’s the only qualification. Members don’t have to own or ride a motorcycle. Those who do ride don’t have to operate a particular make or engage in a particular type of motorcycling.

Member dues and membership options

Membership year is September 1 to August 31.  New memberships received after May 1 will expire the following year. All memberships are renewable by September 1 to maintain uninterrupted membership status.

One year individual = $25

Three year individual =  $65

One year two persons of the same household = $35 per year

Three year two persons of the same household =  $90

For two person memberships please submit applications and payment together.

Life memberships are available.  Please contact us.

As soon as we receive your membership application and dues payment, we will make you an active member in a unique motorcyclist association specifically dedicated to representing the views of smart riders who choose to always ride smart.

Paying dues or making a donation via your PayPal account

(1) Log in to your PayPal account and click on the “Send   &  Request” tab

(2) Type in or copy and paste the SMARTER email address:   SMARTERusa@gmail.con

(3) Enter the amount of money you are sending*, select USD as the currency, add a note to help ensure we understand your desire (membership or donation) and follow the remaining directions.

*NOTE:  We will be charged a fee so help us out if you would by adding about 3% to the membership or donation amount

Paying dues or making a donation via PayPal without a PayPal account

(1) Go to PayPal’s front page

(2) From there click on the link Send Money>Send Money Online

(3) Type in or copy and paste the SMARTER email address: smarterusa@gmail.com

(4) Enter the amount of money you are sending*, select USD as the currency, add a note to help ensure we understand your desire (membership or donation) and follow the remaining directions.

*NOTE: We will be charged a fee so help us out if you would by adding about 3% to the membership or donation amount.

The support of all members is greatly appreciated. Annual memberships expire September 1. To ensure uninterrupted membership status and to conserve SMARTER’s funds for other vital purposes, please print a renewal membership application and send it via U.S. mail, postmarked on or before September 1, along with your dues payment. Thanks!

Organizational Memberships

Organizational memberships are welcome. Nonprofit corporations, governmental units, traffic-safety associations, or professional associations whose missions are compatible with SMARTER’s are eligible to apply for organizational membership application . Our board of directors will evaluate all organization applications. Organizational memberships are $100 per year for the period September 1 to August 31.  Please contact us at smarterusa@gmail.com with any questions.

Donate to SMARTER

Support from all individuals and from for-profit corporations whose principles are compatible with the mission of SMARTER is encouraged.  Individuals and organizations can donate anytime.

SMARTER is a nonprofit, tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. If you would like to contribute to SMARTER, in addition to or in lieu of becoming a member of our association, your donation to SMARTER is tax deductible as allowed by law. IRS publication 1771 explains the federal tax law for organizations such as SMARTER that receive tax-deductible charitable contributions and for taxpayers who make contributions.
