What is the Skilled Motorcyclist Association?

SMARTER – the Skilled Motorcyclist Association–Responsible, Trained, and Educated Riders, Inc. is a motorcyclist association whose membership represents the wide variety of people who own and operate motorcycles and covers the broadest spectrum possible of the motorcycling population. Its members are women and men of all ages, whose interests in motorcycling include the full range of possibilities: touring, off-road, restoring and collecting, commuting, and road racing, just to name a few.

SMARTER is an association that has no brand bias and represents owners of all motorcycle makes, including Aprilia, Bimota, BMW, BSA, Buell, Cagiva, Ducati, Enfield, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Husaberg, Indian, Kawasaki, KTM, Moto Guzzi, MuZ, Suzuki, Triumph, Vengeance, Vespa, Victory, and Yamaha motorcycles.

It is an association of individuals, organizations, and agencies who care about the safety of motorcyclists and who recognize that their safety is enhanced when the decisions they make when preparing to ride and while riding are responsible ones based on the facts borne out by credible research and study.
